We Give Ourselves Away Through Prayer

Click here to listen to the Fourth Watch message from July 20, 2020.

Once the Lord God formed man with His hands and breathed into man the life breath, it was on. Man was now a speaking spirit and his voice would help to shape the world. Genesis 2:7

God loved the world so much that He gave His Only Son Jesus to pay the penalty for sin and to introduce us to the prayer life, the link between heaven and earth. He paid so that we can pray. John 3:16Matthew 6:9-13

We are called to pray for people in all places. Those in positions of authority and those who serve in any area. We are prayers. Our words and our intercession are acceptable to God. We offer thanks to God on behalf of all that we pray for because we want to see all people come to salvation and receive knowledge of God. 1 Timothy 2:1-3

Jesus promised us that power would come to us from the Holy Spirit. We would be witnesses that He lives in us. We are to demonstrate this power to witness in all places. Prayer is a part of our witness. The Holy Spirit prays through us because we don’t always know what to pray. He helps in our weakness. He is the Intercessor on duty in us. Jesus is the Intercessor on duty at the right hand of The Father in heaven, praying for the Church. Acts 1:8Romans 8:18-34

We increase in strength the more we pray in the Holy Spirit. We are built up on our holy faith. We grow in our love of God.  We must know who we are in Christ Jesus to pray.  Jude 1:20-21

Notes

Now that I am able to declare who I am in Christ Jesus I am ready to help someone else know their worth as well. How can I possibly do that?  I use a vehicle called prayer to get the ball rolling. I learn to give myself away on behalf of others. I am now called to stand in the gap for those who have not known the power of God or who have wandered away from the power and presence of God.  I now become like a farmer and sow the seed of God’s word into the atmosphere in prayer. I use the weapons of my warfare and I fight the good fight of faith through prayer. I am now to lean in as I learn to follow the instructions of the Holy Spirit.  I yield, sow, give and wait, the whole while I am praying. The greatest gift I can now give is the gift that I freely received. You see, someone prayed for me to come into the kingdom of light. Now, it’s my turn to give myself to prayer on behalf of another. Why would I not sow into the life or lives of others that which has been given for me?  We are the body of Christ. Jesus has a right to ask me to pray. He has a right to ask me to unselfishly wait in His presence for breakthrough for myself and others. We are charged with the posture of prayer for the nations of the world. That’s a lot, I know, but the rewards are eternal. The giving now is to produce a marvelous harvest later. So, my job today, is to continually confess and declare who I am in Christ Jesus and then, fight on the behalf of others, using the precious gift given to me.  I must pray. I choose today, to give myself away through prayer. Don’t stop now, keep pressing in. Give yourself away. Pray! Obey! Stay! Have a Jesus Filled Day!
